Business Networking Event: UAVNZ & S+SNZ (Spatial Stream)
On 8 May, a combined networking event between AIANZ/UAVNZ and S+SNZ was a great success. We had just over 50 in attendance with a focus on geospatial uses for UAVs and aerodrome safety, and good representation from S+SNZ, UAVNZ, and the wider AIANZ membership.
Kim Gard and Steve Petersen led things off sharing their perspectives from managing Taupō Airport and sharing a recent incident.
Peter Massam and Robin Harley presented some of Scion’s experiences with UAVs in the ten years they have trailblazed and led research in getting UAVs into forestry.
Kurt Larsen from Cheal Consultants (who won the UAVNZ Pilot of the Year award last year) shared some tips in preparing for difficult surveying jobs.
UAVNZ Chair, Dr Isaac Henderson, finished off the presentations with some best practices for training and coordinating visual observers for operations. The networking was lively and we’re sure some great connections have been made.
Special thanks to Gisela Ripoll and Cheal Consultants for organising and hosting the event in Taupō.
Our next event will be held in Christchurch, get in touch if you would like to know more.
